B.Sc (Biology), M.Sc (Environmental science), Ph.D (Epidemiology, Medical Geography)

My name is Pandji Wibawa Dhewantara. My background is an environmental biologist. I am working for the National Institute of Health Research and Development (NIHRD), Ministry of Health of Indonesia. My research activities primarily focused on the epidemiology and biostatistics with particular emphasis on the disease ecology and geography of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. As you know that dengue infection and malaria are the disease of public health importance, which disproportionately affecting millions of people worldwide. My research is focused on understanding the geographical and temporal variation of diseases and factors associated with its heterogeneity across space and time (e.g., climate, environment and social conditions). In doing so, I used novel statistical and spatial analytical approaches (i.e., Bayesian spatial modeling) under different platform such as R and OpenBUGS. The main goal of my research is to develop prediction maps or models which hopefully can be used to better inform stakeholders for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of disease surveillance and public health interventions. In the past few years, I have extended my areas of research into zoonotic and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) (i.e., leptospirosis, rabies, STH, schistosomiasis) and One Health. Currently, I am also working as technical assistant for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) - WHO Tricycle EpiX study in Jakarta, Indonesia in collaboration with the NIHRD - MoH Indonesia.

I love my field - this is my playground. I do a lot of works on understanding the drivers of disease transmission such as dengue, malaria and zoonotic diseases as well as their patterns across space and time. Hope my works could be useful for our future.
